House of Lords Report on Home & Travel Insurance Due 23rd October

Just a quick update from the House of Lords;

On Friday 23 October 2026 the House of Lords Financial Services Regulation Committee will be publishing its report, ‘Home and travel insurance regulation: more for the FCA to do’.

The committee’s inquiry focused on how the consumer market for home and travel insurance is regulated. This covered the regulation of how insurance is sold to consumers, both directly and through intermediaries, and insurance claims handling. It also looked at the enforcement of these regulations and the resolution of disputes between insurance firms and consumers.

This inquiry was launched in May 2026. Over the course of the inquiry the committee accepted 36 pieces of written evidence and heard oral evidence from 17 witnesses. This included from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) and senior representatives from the industry.
