Superscript is Now B Corp Accredited

The latest from Superscript, who have chosen to go down the B Corp route. Many insurance brands like Simply Business, Oxbow Partners, Urban Jungle, Capsule, Coaction Specialty and many more have also gone B Corp. There’s no doubt that meeting DEI and Net Zero standards helps with things like attracting key investment and partnerships on any growth journey, so it’s a smart move for any brand looking to expand. Here’s the word;

Superscript, the digital business insurance provider, today announces that it is now B Corp™ certified, and joins the global movement of businesses operating with environmental and social purpose at their core.  After a rigorous evaluation process which measured environmental and social performance, governance, employee wellbeing, community engagement, transparency, accountability and more, Superscript has achieved a strong score of 88.2 – well above the certification threshold.

Founded as a digital insurance provider fit for the modern age, Superscript has always put its customers, people and community at the core of its purpose. It has implemented long-standing policies and practices to this end, including:

  • Twenty hours of annual paid volunteering leave for every employee

  • Tree planting scheme in partnership with Ecologi and clients – over 2,500 trees planted so far

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion practices

  • Paid professional development

  • Mental wellbeing pledge

The B Corp movement is a continuous commitment to put principles ahead of profit, and so the work does not stop once accreditation is received. In that vein, Superscript can today announce its commitment to reach net zero by 2030.

Cameron Shearer, CEO at Superscript, said:

“Superscript has always championed building better businesses. I am passionate about fostering an inclusive culture and giving back to the SME communities we serve, which is why I am so proud that the team has embraced these values wholeheartedly and worked hard these last two years to secure accreditation by B Corp.

“We are very conscious that this is just the start. We know there are still areas to improve on and many more environmental, social and governmental initiatives that we would like to get on with. Our commitment to reach Net Zero by 2030 is just one way in which our long-term commitments are manifesting themselves.”

Laura Thomas, (above) Head of Claims – who led on the B-Corp application – said:

“As a business, we were already doing a lot of amazing things which align with the B Corp values. I saw B Corp as a great opportunity to support us in the progressive initiatives we were already embracing as a business. Not just in terms of our company culture, but the way we support our customers, our environmental efforts, and all the charity work. It has been something of a marathon collating and documenting everything to be able to demonstrate all of this. While it has been challenging, it has helped us to focus on those areas which need a little more attention and to ensure we can talk about other positive changes as part of our future Impact Reports.”

“We take becoming a B Corp very seriously, it’s not for our ego. Instead, it shows we’re living and breathing these values every day and that they are at the heart of everything we do.”
