World Chess, in cooperation with the World Chess Federation (FIDE), has announced the bidding process to select an “Official Insurance Partner” for the World Chess Championship Cycle 2018-2020
The chosen partner will be in place for the World Chess Championship Match 2018 in London, which will see reigning champion, Norway’s Magnus Carlsen, defend his crown against America’s Fabiano Caruana from 9th – 28th November.
The successful bidder will benefit from significant global media exposure and exclusive marketing opportunities with more than 10 million people watching the Championship Match livestream in 2016. November’s games will be shown around the world with live commentary available online in English, German, Russian and Spanish.
Ilya Merenzon, Chief Executive of World Chess, said: “Chess is pure strategy. Insurance is probably the same. We would like to match the sport and insurance to create a long-term partnership — insurance companies already use chess pieces in their marketing. Now we hope to make it official and meaningful.
