News: ActiveQuote Looking to Expand, Aims to Recruit Another 40 Staff

ActiveQuote, one of the UK’s leading health, life and income protection comparison sites, is celebrating a decade in business and is marking the anniversary by announcing its plans for expansion in the next 12 months. ActiveQuote currently has 160 staff employed at its headquarters in Cardiff Bay but plans to increase this headcount to 200 by 2020.

Rob Saunders, CEO of ActiveQuote, said: “A combination of new partnerships and the continuous development of our products and services has meant that we have seen continued growth in recent years. We are really excited about the future for ActiveQuote and looking forward to expanding the team.”

The company will be looking for roles in DevOps and sales as it takes up additional room in its offices. In its ten years since launch, ActiveQuote has celebrated a number of significant achievements, including:

  • It was the first comparison service to compare health insurance policies in the UK and allow customers to tailor-make their policies by adding or removing options such as hospital cover and physiotherapy;
  • It provides comparison services for some of the UK’s biggest aggregators including GoCompare, Moneysupermarket.com, Confused.com, uSwitch and Money.co.uk;
  • It’s been featured in the Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 twice and has been listed in the Fast Growth 50 Wales Awards for four years running;
  • It was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in 2016, for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the category of innovation for commercial success;

Rob continued: “We celebrated the anniversary with a staff party at Revolution in Cardiff and will soon be expanding into new offices within our building. We are so proud to celebrate our growth which has been achieved through sheer hard work and continuous development in the brand and our proposition. We have a great team and we are looking forward to building on this momentum through 2020.”

ActiveQuote has already started recruiting for its new staff members. More information can be found at: www.activequote.com/careers/.

ActiveQuote was founded by Richard Theo who was its CEO until July 2017. Richard stepped out of the full-time role to commit his time to Wealthify which was a project incubated within ActiveQuote. Richard remains a non-executive director at ActiveQuote.

Richard Theo, founder and non-executive director of ActiveQuote, said: “ActiveQuote is one of the biggest success stories of the emerging Welsh FinTech scene. We grew the business with low levels of funding through passion and hard work, delivering year-on-year revenue growth of between 20 and 100% every year for ten years. And soon we will be employing over 200 people.”

Richard is also now the UK Government’s FinTech envoy for Wales and is working with other business leaders in Wales on the FinTech Wales project to champion the expansion of FinTech ecosystem in Wales.
