DAC Beachcroft Appointed as Legal Advisor For Zego

DAC Beachcroft is pleased to announce it has been appointed as the legal advisor to Zego, the first insurtech firm in the UK to secure an insurance licence.

Established in 2016, Zego provides flexible usage-based motor insurance policies via app, web and phone, covering private hire drivers, fleet businesses and other new mobility services. The company is a pioneer in the insurtech sector, using data collected from drivers and riders to price policies more accurately than traditional insurers.

Last year, Zego became the first UK insurtech to gain its own insurance licence, enabling it to build and sell its own policies. DAC Beachcroft’s appointment will see the international law firm work with Zego’s claims team.

DAC Beachcroft insurance partner, Peter Allchorne, commented, “Zego is at the forefront of innovation and change and we are looking forward to our partnership with them.

“This appointment not only demonstrates our reputation in the insurance market, but it is also testament to our commitment to working with established and emerging insurers holding their licence in Gibraltar.

“The unique motor market in Gibraltar is going from strength to strength as it continues to attract new and emerging insurtechs. It is a market in which we are well placed to utilise our expertise, making this an exciting time to be working with Zego.”

Val Uvarov, Head of Claims at Zego, said: “We are continuously developing and improving the service that we offer to customers as part of our growth ambitions, and our partnership with DAC Beachcroft will help our claims team deliver the best outcomes for our customers and clients, and we are very pleased to have them on board.”
