PRO GLOBAL
Global re/insurance outsourcing and consulting specialists Pro Global Holdings Limited (‘Pro’) has announced the appointment of Roman Claren as Managing Director and Stilianos Kalaitzidis as new Head of Technical Claims for Pro Global’s German businesses/entities. Roman joins Pro on 1st April, moving from ALBAG Dienstleistungsgesellschaft für die Wohnungswirtschaft mbH, Essen, a subsidiary of Provinzial Rheinland Versicherung AG, where he held the position of managing director.
Roman has more than 15 years’ experience in the insurance sector and has spent most of his career at Roland Assistance GmbH, working within claims services across motor, travel and building related insurances. In his role as the new lead for Pro’s German business, Roman will be supported by Robert Buchberger, Managing Director of Pro Insurance Solutions GmbH. Also new to the team is Stilianos Kalaitzidis, who joined Pro in January this year. Stilianos joined Pro from the reinsurer Deutsche Rückversicherung AG, where he worked as a senior claims manager.
Stilianos has nearly a decade’s worth of work experience in the insurance and reinsurance sector, specialising in disability. In his last role, Stilianos helped insurers position themselves strategically in the market and identify and leverage new market trends and technologies.
AVIVA
Aviva today announces the appointment of Cheryl Toner as Chief Customer and Marketing Officer. This is a new role at Aviva and Cheryl will join the Group Executive Committee, reporting to Amanda Blanc. Cheryl was most recently Marketing Director, Retail Banking, NatWest, and was previously Chief Marketing Officer at AXA UK. Cheryl will start at Aviva in May 2021 and her appointment is subject to regulatory
approval.

HIPPO
Hippo has announced four key leadership appointments to its legal and compliance team with combined expertise in reinsurance, insurance compliance, governance, national warranty, and federal securities laws.
Hippo’s newest appointments will report to General Counsel and VP of Compliance, Tracy Bowden, who oversees Hippo’s legal and compliance team.
The new team members include Susan Linder, Hippo’s Deputy General Counsel of Growth, an experienced legal executive, most recently the Assistant General Counsel for Warranty & Alternative Risks at CNA Insurance, and prior to that General Counsel for Toyota’s Insurance Management Solutions.
Laura Hoensch, Hippo’s affiliate Spinnaker Insurance Company’s new General Counsel, an experienced attorney in the insurance industry, where she most recently was General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs for Digital Partners, a Munich Re company.
Moya McKenna, Hippo’s Insurance Compliance Counsel, who specializes in state insurance regulation and state regulatory compliance and joins the company from the law firm of Duane Morris LLP and previously the Texas Department of Insurance, where she was Assistant Director, Office of Financial Counsel.
Anna Berces, Hippo’s Assistant General Counsel, who joins from Postmates Inc., where she served as Senior Counsel, focusing on a variety of litigation, product compliance, and public company compliance and readiness matters. Prior to Postmates, Anna was with Latham & Watkins LLP where she handled SEC related matters and litigation.
SCHEMESERVE
SchemeServe, a leading cloud-based provider of insurance software, has announced the appointment of two new experienced software technicians.
James McNab has joined from Open GI where he spent 8 years as its Underwriting Projects Team Leader, responsible for onboarding new clients and the development and management of new insurance products for insurers and brokers. James also managed Open GI’s team of five in the underwriting projects team.
Prior to Open GI, James was an account handler for Towergate, a motor underwriter for Ink Underwriting, and was also previously a HNW Client Manager at AON.
Michelle Osgood joins SchemeServe from the broker Eversure. She was previously a claims handler for Stackhouse Poland and prior to that an underwriting assistant for Temple Legal Protection. She draws on a valuable pool of experience from broking, underwriting and as a previous customer of SchemeServe.
Both Michelle and James have been appointed as Wunderwriters at SchemeServe.
GENERALI
Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) announces key appointments to further enhance strategy execution.
Within Generali’s P&C division Global Corporate & Commercial, the following appointments and changes are made:
· Reto Arrigoni effective January 1st is appointed as global Head of Casualty Underwriting, directly reporting to the global Head of Underwriting Hayden Seach. Reto will be responsible for leading the casualty underwriting at global level. Formerly GC&C Italy Head of Underwriting and with over two decades of experience in the insurance sector, Reto joined Generali Global Corporate & Commercial in 2014.
· Enrico Mazza effective March 1st is appointed as GC&C Italy Head of Underwriting, directly reporting to the country Head of GC&C Italy Franco Franzoso and functionally reporting to the global Head of Underwriting Hayden Seach. Formerly GC&C ACEER Regional Head of Underwriting, Enrico will be responsible for ensuring technical excellence and profitability of the GC&C Italy portfolios, defining and implementing the underwriting strategy for the various Lines of Business.
MARKERSTUDY
Markerstudy Group has announced the appointment of Benny Higgins (pictured) as Group Chairman, in a move that concludes a busy Q1 in which it welcomed investment from new partners Pollen Street Capital and Qatar Insurance Company, and announced it had acquired Brightside Group.

THOMAS MILLER
Thomas Miller Specialty, a global insurance provider across a number of sectors including marine and offshore, has hired consultant Sven-Erik Braun to bolster the strategic business development of its European offering. A maritime professional with over thirty years’ experience, Sven-Erik has a deep knowledge of marine insurance markets. He has held senior roles with leading German insurance companies, including 14 years as Managing Director at marine broker Döhle Assekuranzkontor GmbH & Co. KG.
Sven-Erik will support strategy and business development at the Hamburg branch of Thomas Miller Specialty, Thomas Miller Insurance (Germany), which serves as the European centre for all Thomas Miller Specialty business.
DIGIT INSURANCE
Digit Insurance recently announced that Virat Kohli has joined them in spreading awareness about insurance in India. as their brand ambassador. They have unveiled their first campaign, featuring Virat; https://youtu.be/ZaM9rM2urlc
The campaign shows Virat Kohli, one of the world’s top cricketers, in a yellow, Digit’s brand colour, jersey saying that he has switched teams. He goes on to mention that he has joined the team that is trusted by crores of people. The team has a good rating and has won many accolades.
The film ends with the Digit ambassador focussing on the fact that ‘Digit is a General Insurance Company highly rated by customers,’ and we see the screen showing ‘almost five-stars,’ referring to the ‘almost five-star rating’ Digit has on Google and Facebook.
GRP
Global Risk Partners (GRP) has hired Steve Anson (pictured) from Ardonagh as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Anson started his new role on 6 April and will sit on the executive committee. He will report to Mike Bruce, Group CEO. Mike Bruce said Anson will oversee business transformation, including the integration of the group businesses and delivering a consistent, digital and data-enabled target operating model, both of which he said were critical to achieving the group’s ambitious growth strategy.
“Steve is a marquee signing for GRP and underlines the critical importance we attach to successfully delivering our transformation programme, said Mike, adding: “The pandemic has greatly accelerated the pace of change in broking; what may have taken years to achieve, such as digital adoption, virtuality and remote working, has happened in a matter of months.”
Anson was previously CEO Towergate Retail at Ardonagh, where he was responsible for a number of SME, non-standard home and retail specialty businesses. He oversaw the transformation of those businesses through a process of entity consolidation, re-platforming and proposition rebuilds.
PARTNERS&
Partners& has appointed Aaron Devitt to the newly created role of Managing Partner, North and Midlands. The move is in line with its strategy to create a strong platform to extend its presence in this part of the country. Aaron will report to Partners& CEO, Phil Barton, and be part of the Group Executive Committee.
Aaron joins Partners& from Travelers, where he has been Chief Operating Officer for Europe since 2016, where he oversaw distribution, IT, marketing, operations and strategy. Prior to that, he spent 26 years in the British, Irish and Scandinavian insurance markets, where he managed businesses spanning commercial, financial and personal lines, including Managing Director of Codan Insurance Denmark.
