Global re/insurance outsourcing and consulting specialist Pro Global Holdings Limited (‘Pro’) is pleased to announce the appointment of Louisa Pavis to head up its Consulting business.
Louisa joins Pro from innovation-led private equity group Apater Capital, where she was Chief Operating Officer and Head of Advisory. Louisa’s background is as a professional transformation and change expert, with a deep understanding of portfolio management and programme delivery, including governance, management of incubator start-ups and heading up advisory servicing networks focused on harnessing technology and data advancements.
GALLAGHER
Gallagher has engaged legal specialist Nick Hughes as a Consultant within its global aerospace practice.
In his new role, Nick will be responsible for supporting client-facing teams with legal input to complex insurance coverage, claims and contractual issues, as well as helping to grow Gallagher’s aerospace client base. Until his retirement in June 2020, Nick was a Solicitor and Partner in law firm Holman Fenwick Willan’s (HFW) aviation practice team, before which he was a Partner at Barlow Lyde & Gilbert. During his legal career, he was mainly London-based, with periods spent in Hong Kong and Singapore.
Nick is a prominent legal aerospace specialist who brings considerable international legal experience in all aspects of aviation and space insurance, having provided legal representation in claims resolution and disputes arising from loss events in over 130 countries. He also has extensive experience advising on regulatory and commercial matters.
Nick serves on a variety of aerospace industry committees and boards, including as a longstanding Director and Secretary of Airmic Limited, the representative organisation in the UK for risk managers and insurance professionals, as well as the Aviation Insurance Clauses Group (AICG), which publishes non-binding standard wordings and clauses to be used in aviation insurance policies. Additionally, he is a Vice President of the Aviation Committee of the Insurance Institute of London (IIL) and past Chairman of the Aviation Committee.
THINGCO
Barrie Wells, MBE, the philanthropist, sports fanatic and lifetime financial services entrepreneur who has founded, owned and managed insurance operations in both the UK and overseas, has joined the board of ThingCo as Non-Executive Director.
Mike Brockman, CEO of ThingCo has enjoyed a long association with Barrie Wells, spanning 30 years, including when Brockman’s former business, Insure The Box, provided free insurance for a vehicle that had been donated by Barrie, to the athlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson, when she was first starting out in her athletics career. Katarina Johnson-Thompson is now patron of the Barrie Wells Trust.
Barrie Wells ran the direct home and motor insurance operation Prospero Direct, which later became AXA Direct; and Premierline Direct, the UK’s first direct commercial insurance operation which he founded with his business partner, Philippa Rothwell, and sold to Allianz in 2006. Barrie was also a Non-Executive Director for Marks & Spencer Money for 10 years.
SCHEMESERVE
SchemeServe, a leading cloud-based provider of insurance software for intermediaries, has today announced the appointment of Lisa Price as Business Development Manager (BDM).
Lisa joins SchemeServe with nearly 30 years’ broking and nationwide business development experience. She has a broad knowledge and experience in all lines of insurance and has been instrumental in transforming distribution and other processes for MGAs, Brokers and Networks.
After 12 years as a regional broker for Bromwich serving the West Midlands, she then went on to spend five years with Towergate Insurance, latterly as Regional Development Manager for the Midlands, Central and Wales Regions. Prior to that she was a BDM for a number of brokers and MGAs including Vasek Insurance Services, and was Commercial Broker for the Independent Insurance Bureau.

AIG
AIG Life has announced the appointment of Michael Aitchison as Chief Actuary. Aitchison joins the UK life insurance arm of AIG on 2nd August from Royal London Group after five years as Financial Risk Director. He brings a wealth of experience, having been responsible for oversight of financial and insurance risks and developing the actuarial and capital aspects of the risk appetite framework, as well as embedding and developing the Solvency II internal model.
Prior to that, he was at Prudential for 15 year in a range of product pricing, capital, projects and financial reporting roles, including the launch and development of the PruProtect business.
ENCOMPASS
Encompass Corporation, the provider of intelligently automated Know Your Customer (KYC) solutions, announces the appointment of experienced financial crime compliance professional Michael Horsnell as Business Development Director.
With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Michael has focused on areas including operations, transformation and risk and control and governance. His expertise covers client onboarding, financial crime and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
He has held senior roles at institutions including Citi, Royal Bank of Scotland and UBS Investment Bank, where he has headed up client Know Your Customer (KYC) services and client reference data. Prior to Encompass, Michael was Global Head of PEP, KYC & Financial Crime Exits at Barclays.
CARBON UNDERWRITING
Carbon Underwriting Limited (Carbon), the specialist, independent managing general underwriter (MGU), announces today the appointments of Navdeep Dhuti as Data Engineer and Sophia Johnson as Data Services Associate as it continues to build out its data analytics capabilities.
Navdeep has joined Carbon from customer analytics consultancy, Acrotrend Solutions, where he was a Data Engineer / Data Scientist. Prior to this, he founded The Elephant app, a web application where university students can Freecycle for free and before that, he was a full stack developer for Cameron and Wilding and QuizSlides.
Sophia joins Carbon from Tokio Marine Kiln where she was a Data Analyst. She had previously been a Bordereaux Technician for White Oak Underwriting Agency Limited.
BRITANNIA P&I
Richard Heppell has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer Designate for Tindall Riley & Co Limited and Britannia P&I. Richard joins on 6th September, having recently served as the CFO for Neon, the specialist insurer and Lloyd’s managing agent.

Richard brings a wealth of experience having held several senior financial positions in the insurance industry which will be of great benefit to our business and to our Members”, said Andrew Cutler, Chief Executive Officer, Britannia P&I.
Richard, who is a chartered accountant with over 30 years in finance within the insurance sector, was previously CFO at MS Amlin Underwriting having joined the Group as Finance Manager for Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group in 2005. Prior to this Richard served at QBE in various capacities. Richard will work alongside Britannia’s current CFO, Philip Whittaker, for an appropriate transition period before taking on the CFO roles (subject to regulatory approval). Philip will then revert to his previous role as Chief Operating Officer.
