HSBC Life has announced new appointments to its senior leadership to further support its global ambitions:
- Winnie Ching as Global Head of Product, commencing on 6 November 2023;
- Raj Kumar as Global Head of Customer and Marketing, commencing on 13 November 2023;
- Alison Law as Global Head of Distribution, commencing on 22 December 2023.
Ching joins HSBC from Swiss Re, where she held a number of global and regional leadership roles over the past ten years, most recently as Chief Risk Officer for Asia and Global Head of Life and Health Risk Management. A qualified actuary, she brings over 20 years’ experience in Asia life insurance and has built a successful track record in Product Innovation, Strategy, and Risk Management.
Kumar was most recently Chief Marketing Officer of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), UK & EMEA, now HSBC Innovation Banking. Having spent close to a decade with Aviva in the UK and Ireland, Kumar held multiple roles across Marketing, Customer, Brand, and Reputation during his tenure, leading the relaunch of Aviva’s new purpose and brand.
Law re-joins HBSC from Hang Seng Bank, where she was most recently Head of Private Banking and Trust Services, focused on managing the private banking business. Prior to that, she spent over 25 years with HSBC, holding leadership roles across Insurance, Strategy, Distribution, and Wealth Management. She brings extensive knowledge from her time with HSBC Life Hong Kong, Group Insurance, and Group Wealth Management, with invaluable experience in HSBC’s Asia wealth strategy.
Inari, a core technology infrastructure provider for the global insurance and reinsurance industry, today announced it has appointed Paul Davies as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Mr. Davies will report into Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frank Perkins and has joined the inari management team.
Mr. Davies will lead inari’s revenue growth, account management and revenue marketing strategies and is responsible for sales and partnerships. Prior to joining inari, Paul held senior roles responsible for revenue growth, operations and AI technology at insurance companies and InsurTechs including ERS Insurance, Solera Inc. and Controlexpert.
Award-winning online broker VT Markets has officially appointed Styliana Charalambous as its Market Analyst for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
In addition to being an ACCA-qualified accountant, Charalambous brings with her an array of unique skills honed from her time as an Audit Supervisor at KPMG and as the Head of Investment and Market Research at a leading multinational fintech firm. Leveraging over 9 years of experience in the finance industry, she is set to play a pivotal role for VT Markets and its clients moving into the future.
High Net Worth specialist Criterion Adjusters announces the appointment of Neil Stephens as Director – Head of Major Loss & Operations. Neil’s appointment follows the growth and success of Criterions Major Loss service, which specialises in large and complex losses impacting High Net Worth clients and will strengthen and oversee their Major Loss division.Neil joins Criterion with over 20 years of experience in Adjusting ranging across all aspects, specialising latterly in Major Loss both in the UK and overseas. As Director, Neil will also have responsibility for the operational leadership of the claims team. SD Claims has appointed Jon Goodall as Insurance Operations Manager.
Having over 10 years of experience in the repairs industry, and an additional five years in wider construction, Jon has developed a versatile skillset and established time-honoured relationships within the sector throughout his career.
On his new appointment, Jon said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new role within SD. Pen Underwriting announces that Ian Summerfield has been appointed Head of Cyber, with effect from 1 January 2024, as its focus on internal leadership development continues.
Ian is currently Commercial Director of Pen’s Hazardous Goods & Environmental Industries niche within its Specialty division, having joined Pen in April 2020 from RSA. His promotion will see Ian take on the strategic and operational leadership of the dedicated cyber practice at the turn of the year after a comprehensive handover period, succeeding Hamir Patel.

As Corporate Head of Strategy, she assumes a pivotal role in shaping the strategic priorities for the company, with responsibility for identifying new growth opportunities and ensuring Beazley remains at the forefront of innovation.
Ms Westinghouse brings more than two decades’ experience to her new role, most recently as Focus Group Leader, Professions PI within Beazley’s Specialty Risks Division in London. She joined Beazley in 2017 after more than a decade at Marsh, where she held a series of senior roles in its international financial and professional lines practice, based in London, UK and Boston, USA.

Angela Thomas has over 30 years of loss adjusting expertise. Her exceptional career history is steeped in liability claims experience, with her most recent insurance role as a client and central services director.
Lindsey Thorpe joins Sedgwick as corporate client director. Her insurance claims experience has been carved out by 19 years as a commercial insurance manager. She has expertise in business engagement, operations management and change leadership.
