Job Moves and Senior Appointments Round-Up 06.11.2023

Time to round up those senior appointments and job moves across the insurance, insurtech and legal sectors. Let’s get into it.

HSBC LIFE

HSBC Life has announced new appointments to its senior leadership to further support its global ambitions:

  • Winnie Ching as Global Head of Product, commencing on 6 November 2023;
  • Raj Kumar as Global Head of Customer and Marketing, commencing on 13 November 2023;
  • Alison Law as Global Head of Distribution, commencing on 22 December 2023.

Ching joins HSBC from Swiss Re, where she held a number of global and regional leadership roles over the past ten years, most recently as Chief Risk Officer for Asia and Global Head of Life and Health Risk Management. A qualified actuary, she brings over 20 years’ experience in Asia life insurance and has built a successful track record in Product Innovation, Strategy, and Risk Management.

Kumar was most recently Chief Marketing Officer of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), UK & EMEA, now HSBC Innovation Banking. Having spent close to a decade with Aviva in the UK and Ireland, Kumar held multiple roles across Marketing, Customer, Brand, and Reputation during his tenure, leading the relaunch of Aviva’s new purpose and brand.

Law re-joins HBSC from Hang Seng Bank, where she was most recently Head of Private Banking and Trust Services, focused on managing the private banking business. Prior to that, she spent over 25 years with HSBC, holding leadership roles across Insurance, Strategy, Distribution, and Wealth Management. She brings extensive knowledge from her time with HSBC Life Hong Kong, Group Insurance, and Group Wealth Management, with invaluable experience in HSBC’s Asia wealth strategy.

 INARI

Inari, a core technology infrastructure provider for the global insurance and reinsurance industry, today announced it has appointed Paul Davies as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Mr. Davies will report into Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Frank Perkins and has joined the inari management team.

Mr. Davies will lead inari’s revenue growth, account management and revenue marketing strategies and is responsible for sales and partnerships. Prior to joining inari, Paul held senior roles responsible for revenue growth, operations and AI technology at insurance companies and InsurTechs including ERS Insurance, Solera Inc. and Controlexpert.

VT MARKETS

Award-winning online broker VT Markets has officially appointed Styliana Charalambous as its Market Analyst for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

In addition to being an ACCA-qualified accountant, Charalambous brings with her an array of unique skills honed from her time as an Audit Supervisor at KPMG and as the Head of Investment and Market Research at a leading multinational fintech firm. Leveraging over 9 years of experience in the finance industry, she is set to play a pivotal role for VT Markets and its clients moving into the future.

CRITERION ADJUSTERS

High Net Worth specialist Criterion Adjusters announces the appointment of Neil Stephens as Director – Head of Major Loss & Operations. Neil’s appointment follows the growth and success of Criterions Major Loss service, which specialises in large and complex losses impacting High Net Worth clients and will strengthen and oversee their Major Loss division. Neil joins Criterion with over 20 years of experience in Adjusting ranging across all aspects, specialising latterly in Major Loss both in the UK and overseas. SD CLAIMS

SD Claims has appointed Jon Goodall as Insurance Operations Manager.

Having over 10 years of experience in the repairs industry, and an additional five years in wider construction, Jon has developed a versatile skillset and established time-honoured relationships within the sector throughout his career.

On his new appointment, Jon said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new role within SD. Having initially joined the business in 2020 as Senior Technician, I’ve seen first-hand how dedicated this claims team is to providing outstanding, forward-thinking repairs for customers and I’m very much looking forward to helping them find new and innovative ways to do so.

PEN UNDERWRITING

Pen Underwriting announces that Ian Summerfield has been appointed Head of Cyber, with effect from 1 January 2024, as its focus on internal leadership development continues.

Ian is currently Commercial Director of Pen’s Hazardous Goods & Environmental Industries niche within its Specialty division, having joined Pen in April 2020 from RSA. His promotion will see Ian take on the strategic and operational leadership of the dedicated cyber practice at the turn of the year after a comprehensive handover period, succeeding Hamir Patel.

O’NEIL DIGITAL SOLUTIONS

O’Neil Digital Solutions Inc. (O’Neil), a distinguished leader of data-driven customer communications management solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of David J. Blanton as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Beazley recently announced the appointment of Brenna Westinghouse as Corporate Head of Strategy, reporting to Adrian Cox, CEO. She assumes her new role on 1 November 2023, succeeding Rachel Turk, who moves to Lloyd’s as its Chief Underwriting Officer.

As leader of the Professions PI book, Ms Westinghouse has already made a significant contribution to Beazley’s growth and strategic position across the globe. As Corporate Head of Strategy, she assumes a pivotal role in shaping the strategic priorities for the company, with responsibility for identifying new growth opportunities and ensuring Beazley remains at the forefront of innovation.

Ms Westinghouse brings more than two decades’ experience to her new role, most recently as Focus Group Leader, Professions PI within Beazley’s Specialty Risks Division in London. She joined Beazley in 2017 after more than a decade at Marsh, where she held a series of senior roles in its international financial and professional lines practice, based in London, UK and Boston, USA.

AND-E

Underlining its long-term vision to deliver protection solutions for the ever-changing mobility landscape, Aioi Nissay Dowa Europe (AND-E), a leading provider of mobility insurance, has created the new role of Chief Product Innovation Officer.

Phil Norris, who has been with the AND-E business for nearly two decades, has been appointed to this new position, reporting to Michael Kainzbauer, Group CEO.

The last few years have seen AND-E ready themselves for the future and investigate new market opportunities through acquisition, collaboration, and in-house development. These have included the acquisition of insurethebox, the partnership and investment with Oxa, the autonomous software provider, and the recent creation of the Aioi R&D Lab – Oxford in collaboration with machine learning experts, Mind Foundry.

SEDGWICK

Sedgwick, a leading global provider of technology-enabled risk, benefits and integrated business solutions, has bolstered its client relationship management team in the UK with the appointment of five client directors.

The strategic appointments of Laura Adamson, Darren Mabley-Jones, Graeme Mutch, Angela Thomas and Lindsey Thorpe follow a period of growth for Sedgwick’s corporate and key client base and reflect Sedgwick’s continued investment in supporting clients.

Laura Adamson has been promoted to key account client director following eight years as a client delivery lead. An 18-year Sedgwick veteran, she has a demonstrated history of exceeding client expectations by focussing on operational performance and continuous improvement strategy.Darren Mabley-Jones brings to Sedgwick 38 years of insurance claims experience, a third of which were spent in B2B client-facing roles. His expertise is drawn from a prior 10-year tenure as a client account director.

Graeme Mutch has been appointed client director for Sedgwick’s home emergency division. He has 19 years of client-facing experience at a business specialising in security solutions for vacant and occupied sites.

Angela Thomas has over 30 years of loss adjusting expertise. Her exceptional career history is steeped in liability claims experience, with her most recent insurance role as a client and central services director.

Lindsey Thorpe joins Sedgwick as corporate client director. Her insurance claims experience has been carved out by 19 years as a commercial insurance manager. She has expertise in business engagement, operations management and change leadership.
