The latest news from SunLife;
SunLife, one of the UK’s most established financial services brands, has announced its expansion into the travel insurance sector by introducing customers to ‘SunLife Travel Insurance’.
The product is sold, manufactured and administered by Rock Insurance Services Limited (ROCK), part of the Staysure Group, the UK’s favourite travel insurance provider1, and underwritten by Inter Partner Assistance S.A.
By introducing consumers to this travel insurance, SunLife marks a broadening of its protection offering and reflects the company’s commitment to serving more of its customers’ lifestyle and financial needs.
SunLife Travel Insurance is available to purchase for all UK adults aged 18 to 90 for a single trip, and encompasses SunLife’s heartland 50+ demographic which the company has supported for decades through its life insurance and later-life financial products. Under-18s can also be covered under family policies.
The product gives customers a choice of cover levels so they can pick the policy that best suits their needs, with additional cover options including golf, winter sports and cruise cover. The products will be introduced directly through the SunLife website and later via price comparison sites.
The highest cover level, SunLife Travel Insurance Plus, has been awarded a 5 Star Defaqto rating, which means it is an excellent product with a comprehensive range of features and benefits. These include:
● 24/7 worldwide access to an English-speaking doctor during your trip via the Dr Please! app
● Up to £20 million in medical emergency cover
● Competitive allowances for cancellation (up to £7,500) and baggage protection (up to £3,000)
Optional add-ons include gadget, cruise, golf and winter sports cover, as well as excess waiver. Terms, conditions and exclusions apply. Some add-ons may not be available through certain sales channels.
Mark Screeton, CEO of SunLife, said: “Our customers trust us to help them protect the things that matter, and travel is a huge part of that for many. Introducing SunLife Travel Insurance is a natural extension of our mission to offer straightforward, good-value products that give people confidence at every stage of life. We know our audience, we understand their priorities, and we believe this cover will give them exactly the confidence they’re looking for, whether they are heading abroad or ‘staycationing’ in the UK.”
SunLife’s decision to introduce customers to ROCK’s travel insurance proposition follows customer insight that shows travel abroad is an important activity for those over 50.2 To support worry-free travel, taking out insurance from a trusted brand helps provide travellers with peace of mind, particularly for those wanting their pre-existing medical conditions to be considered.
By expanding into travel insurance, SunLife aims to strengthen its relationship with customers, meet a broader range of their needs, and introduce the brand to new audiences seeking dependable cover from a name they already recognise.
Simon McCulloch, Chief Growth Officer for Staysure Group and ROCK, adds: “Our partnership model is built on genuine alignment, shared ambition and the belief that every brand should have the tools to win in the travel insurance space. By combining our proven e-commerce platform with the group’s industry-leading expertise, we have created a proposition that will deliver sustained growth for SunLife in the travel space. Together, we can bring smarter products, smoother experiences and stronger commercial outcomes to market faster than ever.”
