A Mayfair-headquartered private healthcare and employee benefits consultancy has championed the PMI industry’s ‘promising’ future after joining the Association of Medical Insurers and Intermediaries (AMII).
HWWA Consulting, which has clients nationwide, has joined AMII at a time which ‘highlights the importance of good medical cover and preparing for rainy day experiences’, according to the firm’s Managing Director, William Annison.
The consultancy, which was founded in 2011, is an employee benefits advisory firm providing services for businesses around pensions and auto-enrolment, group life insurance and income protection cover, as well as private medical insurance and cashplans.
They have joined AMII following a successful period in which they took on new several new clients, with a view to ‘working closer’ with providers and ‘talking to them in a more meaningful way about meeting client objectives’. AMII represents approximately 140 intermediaries, insurers and providers across the health and wellbeing sector.
HWWA Consulting Managing Director, William Annison, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial planning and employee benefits business, said: “We’ve known about AMII for some time. Joining the Association is about more than just networking – it’s about being part of a community. More people should know us, and we should know them.
“As an organisation which is looking to grow, we’re always trying to learn and improve, and our AMII membership will really help us with that. Rather than just dealing with providers individually, we can now utilise a collective approach, which will be fantastic for us moving forward.”
Annison also talked up the future of the PMI industry following a challenging few months due to the Coronavirus pandemic and resultant lockdowns.
“I think it’s highlighted to many people just how important it is to have good medical cover, as well as the need to have preparation for ‘rainy day’ experiences – things which you know could happen but seem unlikely.
“We see it as a very important thing to be proactively involved in memberships and we’re trying to grow in all sorts of ways, not just in business terms. Our AMII membership will support us in doing that.”
AMII membership benefits include participation at national conferences, technical regulatory compliance support, parliamentary and regulatory lobbying, Preferential Professional Indemnity Insurance cover, online technical advice and professional support, an education events programme and opportunities to network with industry colleagues.
During the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown period in the UK, AMII has also provided and issued regular guidance for its members. It has taken steps to support insurers and intermediaries through the crisis, including co-hosting a series of virtual seminars with industry experts.
