GENERALI

Aurélie Julie Beuffé is the new head of the Broker and Client Relations team of Generali Global Corporate & Commercial (GC&C) France, whose primary missions are to manage, facilitate and monitor of all GC&C actions towards its broker partners and customers. With 15 years of experience in the P&C Business Market, Aurélie Julie was previously in charge of the structuring, management and national coordination of P&C Grand Courtage within Generali France.

Vincent Colette takes direct responsibility for the Risk Studies and Prevention team with immediate effect, including advisory and prevention follow-up missions in support of the underwriting teams and with clients, both in Property Damage and Technical Risks and in Civil Liability, are essential for understanding risk exposure and controlling it. Vincent, previously Consulting Engineer in Prevention within Generali GC&C France, brings robust perspectives, both from a technical point of view and from a customer experience point of view.

Aurélie Julie Beuffé began her career with Generali in 2009 in the health field, as Insurance Operations Manager, before moving to the position of Property Damage Underwriter in the PropPE segment.

ABI

Mervyn Skeet has been appointed Director of General Insurance Policy at the Association of British Insurers (ABI).

Mervyn joined the ABI in November 2017 as Assistant Director, Head of Tax and has been acting as Interim Director of GI Policy since December 2022, following the departure of James Dalton. Prior to joining the ABI, Mervyn was Managing Director at XL Group and Senior Vice President at Chubb.

CANOPIUS

Canopius Group, a leading global specialty (re)insurer, today announces the appointment of Sam Harrison as Group Chief Underwriting Officer (GCUO). He will report to Canopius Group Chief Executive Officer Neil Robertson and will join the Canopius Group Leadership Team.

Harrison joins from QBE Insurance, where he served as GCUO since 2021. Having spent most of his near 30-year career at QBE, Sam has become known as one of the most respected and experienced underwriting leaders in the global P&C and specialty insurance market.

As the GCUO of QBE, Sam oversaw a large and diverse portfolio of underwriting businesses across 27 countries worldwide. He led business in the UK, Australia, US and Asia, underwriting c. $20 billion of Gross Written Premium. Sam held a variety of leadership roles at QBE and was previously the Managing Director of Insurance for QBE European Operations.

RUSSELL SCANLAN

Russell Scanlan, Nottingham’s longest-established insurance broker, which has continued to grow both its team and client base significantly in the last 5 years, has appointed a new SME Account Handler to help handle the uplift in business activity expected in Q2 of 2023.

Shaneece Deep has joined the specialist SME team at Russell Scanlan, a business with significant experience of both commercial and SME insurance broking sectors across The Midlands and the UK.  Despite continuing concerns regarding a potential recession and the current cost of living crisis, recent surveys are reporting an increase in the number of small and startup businesses, particularly in the hospitality and retail sectors.

On her new appointment, Shaneece said: “From the moment I walked into Russell Scanlan I felt supported and welcomed. In this new role, I also have the advantage of working within a larger team which means there’s much more knowledge and expertise under one roof. I can’t wait to leverage my experience to develop strong relationships with clients and propel the business’ success further.

NFU MUTUAL

NFU Mutual has announced the appointment of two directors – Bev Mitchell as Marketing and Digital Director and Kenny Graves as HR Director. The appointments will follow the planned retirements of Gina Fusco and Trisha Jones.

Bev Mitchell, currently Head of Marketing, Digital and Direct, will take up the new role of Marketing and Digital Director from 1 June 2023, subject to regulatory approval. Bev’s appointment will follow the retirement of Gina Fusco, Strategy and Marketing Director, at the end of May.

Bringing almost 30 years of experience in marketing, digital and data in mutuals, listed companies and private equity businesses, Bev originally joined NFU Mutual in 2015 as a consultant on a major change project. As Head of Marketing, Digital and Direct, she has been instrumental in the development of the insurer’s marketing function.

Kenny Graves, currently NFU Mutual’s Head of HR, will become the new HR Director from 1 July 2023, subject to regulatory approval. Kenny will lead on all aspects of NFU Mutual’s people strategy, including recruitment, talent management, employee engagement, leadership development and all HR policy developments.

Among his many successes at NFU Mutual, he has introduced a new HR target operating model, implemented a successful direct resourcing model and led the HR response to COVID, including the creation of an Informal Homeworking framework. Kenny has over 28 years’ HR experience and joined NFU Mutual in 2017 after working in Head of HR roles at Police Mutual Group and Phoenix Group Plc.

Kenny will take over as HR Director from Trisha Jones, who is retiring after 13 years at the business on 30 June.

LEXISNEXIS

LexisNexis® Risk Solutions, the data, advanced analytics and technology provider to the U.K. and Ireland insurance markets, has appointed James Burton as Managing Director, Insurance, U.K. and Ireland, effective 1 April 2023.

Burton previously served as vice president of product management, insurance, U.K. and Ireland. He has worked for LexisNexis Risk Solutions for seven years and has been responsible for the management and execution of the product strategy across the business.

Prior to LexisNexis Risk Solutions, Burton worked in a number of product and analytical roles across loyalty, credit risk and debt management for organisations such as Ikano Bank and Equifax after spending a number of years as a Government Bond trader. He holds a master’s degree in economics from Nottingham University.

GALLAGHER RE

Gallagher Re, the global reinsurance broker, has appointed Robert McMillan as Renewable Energy Practice Leader within its global marine & energy team, with immediate effect.

Robert’s extensive knowledge and experience in the renewable energy sector, in particular onshore and offshore wind, will enable Gallagher Re to build out its client proposition, develop a proprietary view of risk and best support its insurer and MGA clients’ increasing investment and involvement in renewables. His skillset will complement Gallagher Re’s existing transactional expertise, where it already has significant experience in placing treaty business for renewables, whether mixed portfolios or standalone programmes.

Robert brings more than 30 years’ industry experience and joins from Siemens where he spent 16 years – the last 10 specialising in the onshore and offshore wind industry, holding a variety of senior management roles. A chartered engineer by profession, with additional project management qualifications and skills in leading multi-disciplinary teams, Robert most recently served as Global Head of Product Safety and Risk at Siemens, having been Head of Engineering for Wind Power UK and Offshore Product Safety Officer prior to that.

ACQUIS

Acquis, a provider of insurance products and services to the European asset finance market, has appointed Rob Fost as its new Underwriting Manager. Previously Head of Technical and Innovation at Great American Europe, Rob brings much-valued expertise in the adaptation and evolution of insurance products, which will help Acquis meet the changing demands and needs of new and existing clients across the UK, Europe and beyond.

Rob has extensive experience in driving technological innovation within commercial underwriting and technical programme performance monitoring. Rob’s role at Acquis will include developing automated solutions to accelerate the end-to-end underwriting and quality control process.

PREMFINA

PremFina announces the appointment of Allan Oliver in the new role of Networks Ambassador.

Allan joins following 18 years at Close Brothers as Network Relationship Manager, where he was responsible for onboarding the growing number of independent broker networks across the UK. He first joined Close Brothers as a campaign coordinator in 2004 and retired from the company at the end of March.

At PremFina, he will work closely with UK sales and marketing director Paul Trail, as the premium finance provider continues to build its footprint with broker networks and their independent broker membership.

AIXIGO

aixigo is delighted to announce that Hicham El Bonne has been appointed the new CTO of aixigo as of April 2023. With his experience, he will significantly drive the continued advancement of the aixigo:BLOXX Wealth Management Platform.

Backed with a master’s degree in Econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Hicham El Bonne is a FinTech enthusiast and an end-to-end product leader with 17 years of experience in a global FinTech environment. After starting his career in FinTech at Ortec Finance, first as a consultant and later as an analyst, he quickly moved into a product leadership role. For the past 11 years, he was responsible as Head of Product & Engineering for Ortec’s software solution for investment performance and risk analysis. Heading up product management and software engineering, he helped Ortec to establish it as a leading solution in the market.
