Back from the Easter break with a quick round-up of the latest senior level appointments for you;

EQUIOM

Equiom Group is pleased to announce the appointments of Mark Lindsay as Head of Employee Retirement & Reward Services, and Natalie McGinness as Director within the Employee Retirement & Reward Services team.  

These appointments reinforce Equiom’s commitment to strengthening this service line as a strategic priority and further enhancing its capabilities as a trusted partner for global corporate clients.

In their new roles, Mark and Natalie will work closely with the firm’s specialist trustee and administration teams across the group, leading the strategic development, delivery, and implementation of high-quality retirement and reward solutions tailored for multinational employers.

NEXUS UNDERWRITING

Nexus Underwriting (‘Nexus’), a Brown & Brown group business, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ana Ortega Lamaignère as Broker & Partner Manager for Spain in its Trade Credit business in Europe, effective 1st April 2025. Ana will report to Samuel Fattahzadeh, Head of Europe for Nexus Trade Credit.

Ana joins Nexus with extensive experience in both banking and broking, having most recently served as Sales Manager for Coface Global Solutions in Spain for the past four years. Her deep understanding of trade credit risk and strong broker relationships will play a key role in expanding Nexus’s European presence and strengthening its partnerships across the region.

PEN UNDERWRITING

Pen Underwriting today announces that Lorraine Malcolm has been appointed Senior Underwriter for Scotland in its Commercial Risk Managed team, which serves brokers and clients across the UK from a network of regional hubs. Lorraine joins the team today, Tuesday 22 April.

Based out of Glasgow, Lorraine brings more than 30 years’ commercial underwriting and trading experience across the full spectrum of property and casualty risks. Most recently, she was responsible for Scotland and Northern Ireland as Property & Casualty Manager for Allianz Insurance. Prior to this, Lorraine was a Senior Trading Underwriter for Aviva within its Corporate & Specialty Risk division and spent a decade with Axa as Technical Development Underwriter.

During her career, Lorraine has been responsible for underwriting, managing and growing quality portfolios of commercial insurance, by working closely with business development teams and brokers to deliver solutions that address diverse clients’ risk needs. This has included the writing of large and complex risks, the development of delegated authority schemes and provision of technical advice and guidance.

VERVE

 Verve Risk Services (Verve), the specialist underwriting agency, announces Gordon Steward, a leading forestry risk underwriter, has joined the business as part of the strategy to expand its specialist mid-market managing general agent (MGA) business, operating across a number of different lines supported by the Lloyd’s and Company markets.

Gordon Steward joins Verve as Head of Forestry. He will focus primarily on small, medium to medium-large forestry companies based in Latin America, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa, writing a hybrid specialty book with access and the ability to provide traditional and parametric solutions.  He can also, uniquely, design solutions to respond to clients’ requirements for climate change and ESG. Steward was previously Managing Director, Forestry at DUAL Group and has nearly 40 years’ experience in the segment.

SWISS RE

Swiss Re announced today that Bernhard Kaufmann will succeed Patrick Raaflaub as Group Chief Risk Officer as of 1 October 2025.

Bernhard Kaufmann has held Chief Risk Officer positions in the re/insurance industry for the past 17 years. He will join Swiss Re on 1 October from Helvetia, where he is currently the Group Chief Risk Officer.

Prior to this role, Bernhard Kaufmann was Chief Risk Officer at NN Group and held various senior leadership roles at Munich Re Group, most recently as Group Chief Risk Officer. He completed his PhD in theoretical physics at the Technical University of Munich.

4MOST

Specialist analytics and risk management consultancy 4most has announced the launch of its Insurance Accounting service line with the appointment of Mike Neill, who will head up the new division. In his new role, Mike will expand the firm’s insurance expertise by introducing accounting advisory services, complementing the existing actuarial and risk offerings.

With over 13 years of experience in the insurance sector, Mike brings extensive expertise in external audit, IFRS 17 and Solvency II implementations, process and controls assurance, and complex accounting transactions.

Prior to joining 4most, Mike worked in the Insurance Audit practices at PwC and EY, collaborating with a diverse range of clients across life insurance, general insurance, mutual insurers and London Market firms. His recent projects include the IFRS 17 transition audit of a FTSE 100 life insurer and the first-year audit of another FTSE 100 insurer.

TMK

 Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK), a leading specialist insurer, announces it has appointed Oliver Delaney as Departmental Head of Liability with immediate effect, as it continues to cement its role as a market leader in the class.

Delaney brings two decades of industry experience to the role, 14 years of which have been spent at TMK where he most recently held the role of Divisional Head of Liability. He has played a significant role in growing TMK’s liability book from its inception to one of the largest and most established International General Liability books in the Lloyd’s market.

He is exceptionally well placed to drive commercial opportunities and maintain TMK’s outstanding service offering for brokers and insureds, as the team sets its sights on scaling up its liability book. The news comes as TMK further strengthens its leadership positions and capabilities across its portfolio.

CII CARDIFF

Alisha Edwards, Account Executive at Thomas Carroll, has been elected as the new president of the Cardiff arm of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Alisha, who joined the independent employee-owned risk management business last year, has been a member of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff for several years and will now hold the presidency for the next two years.
The CII is a professional body which is dedicated to building public trust in the insurance industry and it has a network of local institutes across the UK, which represents each region. The Insurance Institute of Cardiff has nearly 2000 members and its activity is shaped by a committee of like-minded individuals that share the same passion for the industry.
Alisha said of her presidency: “I am truly honoured to be elected as President of the Insurance Institute of Cardiff. It’s a privilege to serve in this role, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated and talented council. Our passion and commitment will undoubtedly make the next few years both successful and it’s a chance to give back to the industry and community that has shaped my career.
