The latest senior job moves and latest hires across the insurance sector;
Marsh, the world’s leading insurance broker and risk advisor, and Guy Carpenter, a leading global risk and reinsurance specialist, today announced senior appointments to their leadership teams.
Paul Moody is appointed UK CEO, Guy Carpenter, effective September 1, subject to regulatory approval. Based in London, Mr. Moody will report to Dean Klisura, President, Guy Carpenter and assume responsibility for Guy Carpenter’s UK property and casualty business. He has held his current position of CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK & Ireland since 2018. During his 22 years with Marsh, Mr. Moody has developed and led successful strategic growth initiatives in the UK financial lines and specialty divisions.
Dominic Samengo-Turner is appointed CEO, Marsh Specialty, UK & Ireland, effective September 1, subject to regulatory approval. He will be based in London and report to Chris Lay, CEO, Marsh, UK & Ireland, and Lucy Clarke, President of Marsh Specialty and Global Placement. Mr. Samengo-Turner is currently the Global Head of Facultative Reinsurance at Guy Carpenter having previously served as Head of Marsh Specialty, Asia, following Marsh’s acquisition of JLT. An industry veteran with more than 35 years’ experience in global and specialty markets, he also spent 23 years at Willis Towers Watson in several leadership roles before joining JLT in 2015.
Toby Wemyss is appointed Global Head of Facultative Reinsurance, Guy Carpenter. Reporting to Mr. Moody, Mr. Wemyss is expected to join in the fourth quarter of 2021 and will be based in London. He joins Guy Carpenter from Willis Towers Watson, where he has been Global Head of Facultative for the previous four years. Mr. Wemyss has also served as Regional CEO of Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa and CEO of Global Markets, International for Willis Towers Watson.

DWF, the global provider of integrated legal and business services, has appointed Dr. Jan-Ulf Suchomel as Partner in the Insurance practice, based in Munich, Germany.
Jan-Ulf has over 15 years of experience as an insurance litigation lawyer and joins DWF from Fieldfisher where he was a Counsel. During his career, Jan-Ulf has worked for major law firms as Hogan Lovells and DLA Piper. At DWF Jan-Ulf will lead the German insurance team, as part of the global insurance team, working closely with the Global London Markets team.
Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich) has appointed Frank Verkerk to the new role of Group Chief Platform Officer to accelerate the development of digital services to meet rapidly changing customer needs. He joins Zurich on August 16, 2021, from ABN Amro, where he was Chief Digital Officer and responsible for digital transformation. In his new role, Mr. Verkerk will focus on enabling open platforms with third parties for Zurich businesses to quickly develop and integrate next generation insurance-as-a-service solutions.
Mr. Verkerk will work closely with Zurich’s Global Business Platforms business unit, under the leadership of Jack Howell, to accelerate development of digital and modular services. He will be based in Zurich, Switzerland, and report to Ericson Chan, Group Chief Information and Digital Officer.

HDI Global SE is delighted to announce the establishment of its “Digital Solutions” team.

Meryem Seyyar is taking on leadership of the team. She has already held responsibility for this line of business in the past as Underwriting Manager Shared Economy & HUB Underwriting, International Casualty, at AXA XL in Switzerland and has a track record of expertise in online platforms and mobility ecosystems.
Matthew Hammer will take over Autonomous Systems, Technology and Crypto Currency as Underwriting Manager within the team. The team will further include Sarah Turan as underwriter for digital products and Asian markets and Jan Schumacher with the function as Pricing Analyst.
Verena Brenner also emphasises this aspect. She is the Managing Director of HDI TH!NX. This spin-off from HDI Global and part of the HDI Group has already been developing pilot projects for insurance solutions in the world of Industry 4.0 for more than one and a half years. “The establishment of the ‘Digital Solutions Team’ is very good news for us and our customers,” she said. “The new team is a great fit with the capabilities we already have and it complements them.”
InsurTech Intelligent AI has announced the appointment of Neil Strickland, former Customer Experience Director at RSA, as Chief Commercial Officer to lead the company’s commercial sales activities.
Neil brings over 30 years’ insurance experience with AIG, Zurich, and RSA across underwriting, operations, risk management, and salesto his role at Intelligent AI. Neil has been an advisor to the board of Intelligent AI since March 2020 and has now joined as a full-time director. Anthony Peake, CEO of Intelligent AI, said:
